Introduction to CLTRE

Apr 1, 2023 | CLTRE

On December 21, 2021 at 2:19pm, CLTRE was born as a sister company to Unseen Heroes, LLC. CLTRE is a nonprofit organization that is committed to shifting the cultural landscape in Sacramento by year 2040. We do this through building culture, making culture, and keeping culture within culturally rich neighborhoods throughout the city.

The impacts of the pandemic have highlighted the glaring gaps in the community development ecosystem, particularly in our most vulnerable neighborhoods. CLTRE was created in direct response to these needs, with the belief that the power to make culture, build culture, and keep culture exists within the neighborhoods that we are from.

At CLTRE, we are builders, makers, and keepers of culture. We understand that sustainable neighborhood revitalization is not just about building physical structures, but also about creating a sense of belonging and community ownership. We infuse culture and creative problem-solving into our place-based development strategy, through short-term projects and long-term programs that directly enhance the built environment and the economic stability of the households of locals and the neighborhoods they live in.

CLTRE is a bridge for community

Our approach to community development is centered on a place-based strategy that looks at the social determinants of health, hard infrastructure (e.g. roads, rail, schools, sewer, broadband, neighborhood facilities, public buildings, recreational and public space), as well as soft infrastructure (e.g. services which are required to maintain the economic, health, and cultural and social standards of a population). This hyper-focused approach is designed to empower underserved neighborhoods to move in positive and intentional directions towards revitalization and economic stability by design.

We understand that creating sustainable and equitable communities is a complex and multifaceted task, which is why we work in partnership with investment partners, government agencies, and financial institutions, to ensure that our small-scale developments have a large impact and lasting addition to the community. Our projects offer diverse opportunities for community investors to build a portfolio, while also contributing to sustainable construction, community improvement, and neighborhood growth.

At CLTRE, we are committed to putting culture, diversity, and equity into development. We see under-resourced areas with clear needs as vibrant cultural hubs that house some of the best our city has to offer. We address these needs through a multidisciplinary approach to development and leverage creativity to find solutions to a broad range of community challenges.
