Oct 4, 2024 | CLTRE, CLTRE Building, News

We are thrilled to announce that CLTRE has been selected to participate in the California Community-Owned Real Estate (CalCORE) Program, an initiative that provides essential support to organizations committed to community ownership and equitable development. This opportunity is made possible by Community Vision in partnership with The California Endowment and Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF).

The CalCORE Program aligns perfectly with CLTRE’s mission to foster community-driven development, focusing on inclusive economic growth and long-term neighborhood stability. As part of the program, we’ll receive valuable resources, technical assistance, and support to continue advancing community ownership models that prioritize the needs of Sacramento residents, particularly those historically excluded from real estate opportunities.

About the California Community-Owned Real Estate (CalCORE) Program

The CalCORE Program is designed to empower mission-driven organizations like CLTRE to acquire, develop, and sustain community-owned real estate. The program offers training, technical support, and funding guidance to build lasting real estate solutions that benefit local communities. By promoting community ownership, the CalCORE Program aims to combat displacement, increase affordable housing, and create spaces that uplift and reflect the people they serve.

This is a significant milestone for CLTRE and our community. Being part of the CalCORE Program allows us to advance our vision of community-owned real estate and inclusive development that genuinely serves Sacramento residents. Through this program, we’re not just acquiring property; we’re creating long-term opportunities for economic empowerment and stability. We’re honored to be part of this initiative and look forward to building a Sacramento that’s truly community-driven. – Roshaun Davis, Executive Director, CLTRE

How CalCORE Supports CLTRE’s Mission

For CLTRE, participating in the CalCORE Program means more than just accessing resources—it represents a step forward in our commitment to equitable community development. Through this initiative, we will have access to tools and expertise that empower us to shape real estate projects that:

  • Prevent Displacement: Developing spaces that prioritize affordability and community stability, ensuring Sacramento’s neighborhoods remain accessible to all.
  • Create Economic Opportunities: Fostering job creation and entrepreneurship within our community, contributing to Sacramento’s growth.
  • Support Community-Led Development: Ensuring that real estate decisions reflect the needs, culture, and aspirations of local residents.

Looking Ahead: Building a Community-Owned Sacramento

CLTRE’s selection for the CalCORE Program marks an important step in our journey toward community ownership. By putting property ownership in the hands of community organizations, we’re able to create spaces that truly serve Sacramento’s residents. Our goal is to build a resilient, community-centered Sacramento where everyone has a stake in the city’s growth and prosperity.
